Favourite Scents?

What are your favourite scents at the moment? We’ve been happily burning a turkish delight / rose scent in the office for a couple of days and we’re happy to say it smells delicious! Some candles out there at the moment really do smell good enough to eat! We’re lucky here at Candletastic to have a lot of scented candles sent to us for review purposes and every so often we come across some real gems, just as was the case with our latest addition, the turkish delight candle.

With so many scents available both from the big boys such as Yankee and smaller companies offering handmade varieties, you can never be short of a new scent to try. Have you considered trying a fresh grass scent? A popcorn scent? A christmas pudding scent? The list goes on and on and I’m sure if it’s something you want to do, you could try a different one every week for a good few years!

However, we all have our favourites but it’s always brilliant to try something new! We’ll be adding further reviews and thoughts both here and our About Us feature over the next few weeks so head on over and have a look!

Handmade Candles vs Mass Market Candles

We see candles from the likes of Yankee in almost every high street shop we go into at the moment, however there is no doubting that these can be VERY expensive and it brings the question of what else is there out there? What alternatives are there to the likes of Yankee candles? Whilst these are mass made products, intended to be sold in shops such as Clinton’s cards on every high street, surely there must be some more unique candles available? Do we really have to keep purchasing from the big boys?

What about those of us who prefer to support smaller businesses? Who prefer handmade products? I don’t know about yourselves but I certainly love purchasing brands and items which are that little bit different to mass produced goods which EVERYONE seems to have. When it comes to candles, I’d personally prefer to purchase handmade candles than those which are mass produced, mainly for a number of reasons. Firstly,  there’s the fact that it always feels great to support smaller business, those who have a real passion for the products which they produce and those which put an awful lot of time and effort into making their products that little bit different to everyone elses. This leads on to the second point, that it’s always great to have something which others have yet to cotton on to. With candles, I love to be the one who burns scents which everyone leaves talking about, those which everyone asks what they are but comments how great they smell!

Why purchase Yankee’s and be like everyone else when there is so much more out there, that which is handmade and presented and produced with the greatest attention to detail and often at a much better price! Let us know what you’ve been burning (in the candle sense!) … even feel free to submit a review of your favourite and we’ll publish it on the site. For more information, click here.
